14. No, no, I knew it was sarcasm - I was furthering the point.
It's sad that a good percentage of Americans wouldn't give a damn unless other Americans were killed (more of a slight against rabid patriotism than America).

This is one benefit of having a person of color with an Arabic name as President. He's not your average white guy and maybe can break the ice a little better.

9. Well, here's hoping.
I knew someone in the foreign service who was stationed in India. Apparently the situation has been teetering so badly for so many years. OF course, we don't hear about that in the US: we're too busy getting "news" on the stars' latest escapades.

12. Don't get paranoid. These aren't dirty savages itching for war.
American's really have no business worrying about crisis anywhere else in the world. It's not because your opinion is irrelevant, but the hysteria tends to fuel an unnecessary posturing, paranoia, and response.
