Poll question: Joe Lieberman for Attorney General???
Yes I understand that Rell would likely appoint a Republican. but it would royally screw her if she does. There also is no guarantee that such a Repuke would side with * on the war. if they want to be reelected.

Also the appointment would not be for the next five years only until the next general election in the state. The Dems copntrol the Legislature. So in theory they could put forth a referendum of one sort or another to force a statewide election.

Sec. 9-211. United States senator; vacancy. In case of a vacancy in the office of senator in Congress, the Governor is empowered to fill such vacancy by appointment as herein provided. If such vacancy occurs sixty or more days prior to a state election, the appointee shall serve until the third day of January following such election, and at such election there shall be elected a senator in Congress to serve for the remaining portion, if any, of the term vacated. If such vacancy occurs within less than sixty days of a state election and the term vacated does not expire on the third day of January following such election, the appointee shall serve until the third day of January following the next such election but one, and at such next election but one there shall be elected a senator in Congress to serve for the remaining portion, if any, of the term vacated. If such vacancy occurs within less than sixty days of a state election and the term vacated expires on the third day of January following, the appointee shall serve until such third day of January.

Yes we would lose control of the Senate...but we control the house and there is nothing substantive going to be accomplished in the next year anyway (sad...very sad.....but true)

We get rid of a blight on the party and we do not pay a terrible price for it.

2. What good would that do?
Democrats would lose control of the Senate and people here would be constantly griping about Lieberman causing it.

4. It wouldn't screw her if she appointed a republican. It's politics and that is the way it operates.
Besides Lieberman is an Independent not a democrat.

10. I wish we could take all that energy you guys put into bad mouthing Joe
and put it into doing something positive for the party. Right now keeping Joe where he is keeps the Dems in control of the Senate
and the "search for truth" thats going on right now in several sets of hearings. If Republicans were to take the Senate who do you
suppose would confirm replacements for the 8 fired US attys.? Well it wouldn't be us. Lets keep Joe on our side (at least in confirming
whos in power in the Senate) until we can increase our majority in the next election. OK? OK!
