Bank cardboard cutout spurs police standoff
A full-fledged police standoff ended at a New Jersey bank last night after authorities discovered the “person” they thought they saw inside was just a human-sized cardboard figure.

Montgomery Township police responded to an alarm that sounded at a local PNC bank before seeing what they thought was at least one person through the blind-drawn windows. The area near the bank was sealed off and three apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities used bullhorns and made telephone calls in a bid to make contact with whoever might be in the bank, but when they received no response, they sent in the SWAT team. The team discovered the life-size cardboard figure inside.

Police were not sure what set off the bank alarm or if anyone had attempted to to enter the bank. The identity of the cutout was not released.

It was not immediately clear if the cardboard figure was taken into custody or will be charged with causing a false alarm. No paper-cut injuries were reported.

3. "The identity of the cutout was not released."
I didn't know that cardboard cutouts had rights that we animate objects are bound to respect.
