Laura Bush* on MTP.... oh, my
Anyone watch this? God, I try to be fair. She seems to truly care about the plight of women in Afghanistan, but I just can not take her seriously. She seems so totally clueless. I admit to having a bit of bias in that I find her way of speaking a little grinding (not the Southern Texas accent but her emphasis on certain words and syllables-- impoooooor'tance, the Cheeeeldren)....

But in reality, it is just that she comes across as so horrendously clueless, so "in the bubble."

Ok, that's off my chest...

2. You were probably watching a future Senator

I find her s Stepford wife and clueless as well.

However, she would be really likeable for the new Rethuglican Party.

I think she could woo those that are not completely out of touch like the Palin Clan.

6. She'd probably run in Texas, not New York
And there is an irreducible segment of the Texas voting population that will vote for anything on the R side of the ballot, against all sense and their own interest. And if Laura decides she wants to run for office, though I seriously doubt she will, there will be an entire apparatus that will spring up overnight to assist her.

But my own armchair psychologist reading of First Lady Xanax is that she wants to get the hell out of Washington and never look back.

She looks like she would rather be far away from it. She is pretty dopey though, how else could one be married to Shrub? She is very frumpy too. Laura, email me, I got some fashion tips for you.

15. I'm not trying to be insulting at all
I'm saying that running as a Republican, they have no place to go
other than Palin.

If they could run Palin, they are desparate to run anyone with name recognition.

She is absolutely clueless and totally out of touch but we are not talking about her running as a Democrat.

Democrats have hundreds of highly intelligent women.
They don't have what we have, so they would take what they can get.

she sometimes gets her Xanax and Ativan mixed up, and, not wanting to be a bad patient, she takes everything, and then she does an interview.

Even drugged and clueless, sedated almost to the point of coma, she is more articulate and thoughtful than that fuck she married.

would you only ever blame the husband? Isn't that sexist too?

At the point where one person has an affair, there is a breakdown of the marriage. The cause of that can usually be traced back to both people in the couple.

47. Yes
There are plenty of ways to deal with problems in a marriage. Having an affair isn't a legitimate one. He, and only he, is responsible for having the affair. That isn't to say he and only he is responsible for the state of a bad marriage but he is responsible for the affair.

he could have wrongly, mind you, seen the affair as a way to feel what was lacking in his relationship. That is not a justification for what he did, but thier relationship might have been almost unbearable.

25. First propagandist
The "first lady" role has been badly abused under Bush. If a First Lady (or Gentleman) is going to be into policy, then she/he needs a formal appointment and title. That way we know whose ass to kick when what they say turns out to be false. Rove and Bush used Laura as a willing stalking horse. She vouched for the worst administration in history time and again, but where is the accountability?

40. The only things viewers wanted to know from the First Lady was her medication
The only things viewers wanted to know from the First Lady were
(a) what medication got her through the last eight years,
(b) how it felt being married to a walking catastrophe, and
(c) what she really thought about Michelle Obama when she came to the White House.

If we really want to know about Afghanistan, is Laura Bush the first name that springs to mind? Wouldn't we rather hear from someone steeped in knowledge of the place who could advance our comprehension?

49. Laura's husband's administration gave the Taliban millions just before 9/11
I don't buy the Bush's concern about the Taliban abusing women for one second and neither should you.

Bill Clinton had made any aid to the Taliban illegal.

GW Bush and Colin Powell gave the Taliban millions right after they took office reversing Clinton's strong position against the Taliban monsters who were murdering little girls and women every day.

And then came 9/11.

And suddenly to whip up Americans to war, Laura suddenly for the first time in her life spoke out against the Taliban.

That is called opportunism.

She's a phony.
