We are at the mercy of lunatics. - Treated Like a Terrorist by the DMV
The author tries to renew his drivers license and runs afoul of the catch-a-terrorist system in the DMV.

I had a similar thing happen a couple of years ago when I tried to get license in this state, their was a hold from 9 years ago and two states ago on my license for not turning in my plates while I had since sold the car and used plates on new car moved to two other states and had car titled in both and no lapse in insurance. This same foreign state had already dinged me for taxes because I did not turn in plates (they did that about 5 years before)

2. Our state is apparently more paranoid than yours.
I just clicked on the page that is supposed to show the
" new secure improved identity protection"...
it is blank.
no picture of the new license.
Lots of buttons at the left to click on to show the features.
but no pic of same.

Now, THAT's security !!!

3. they know he's not a terrorist, they just wanted his $30
annoying but hardly kafka

after that headline i expected to read that his name could not be cleared at any price

my husband is on the no fly list along with the millions of other men in the world who share his name and it causes constant problems but no quick payment of $30 can clear it up, there is nothing to do but jump thru the hoops every time the problem arises

this person probably sold the article they wrote for more than $30 hence actually made a profit on the whole mix-up

4. Oh yeah! I'm sure it was worth that money, too! WOW!
Thirty bucks for the driver's license and he made a whopping $50 off the article! WOWZA! Twenty whole bucks profit!

Yeah, right. That's what it's all about. Despite your "husband on no fly list" crapola (how much profit did you make off of that, by the way?), it's apparent you've never been caught up in bureaucratic bullshit.

I know a guy, right now, who lost everything in Ike and he can't get a driver's license because he doesn't have a birth certificate, and he can't get a birth certificate without a driver's license.

Bushworld is fucking crazy.
