FBI team detained at Mumbai airport, released later
Published on Sun, Nov 30, 2008 at 23:35, Updated on Sun, Nov 30, 2008 at 23:40 in Nation section

Mumbai: A seven-member FBI team was detained at the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport due to some "miscommunication" between officials as it arrived to probe Wednesday's terror strike but was allowed entry after it provided a list of forensic equipment it was carrying.

Authorities at the airport came in for a surprise when a special plane carrying the FBI team and special forensic equipment landed in the city, official sources said.

The team was detained by the Customs and Immigration authorities as it had neither sought permission to arrive nor had made a request in advance for bringing in the forensic equipment, they said.

They attributed this incident to miscommunication between the two sides and added that if prior information was available, the authorities would have placed a liaison officer to receive the team.

1. In common parlance:
A "Goat Fuck". There will be more of them. Something tells me that the Indian Authorities wanted to communicate clearly to the FBI just whom is the Big Swinging Richard in this thing.

2. It's unbelieveable that
this happened. Normally, all clearances would have been obtained from the start--since there have been reports for a couple of days that the FBI and Scotland Yard wanted to send forensic teams in.

3. Unfortunately your government believes it can arrive
anywhere without permission. On BBC they were saying that the Brits were not sending investigators until they received the appropriate approval. Indeed they requested permission.

I don't know who told Bushco that they were welcome anywhere.

6. In FACT, I heard on CNN that when the US "offered" help, India
said "don't call US, we'll call YOU"...and of course we ignored them..:(

5. They should had presented a goat skin to the FBI
and then proceeded to squeeze any of the zits on the skin.

On a show I saw Friday nite they were showing the process to make parchment from goat skin. And it looked like toothpaste being squeezed out.
