The Left unites in Canada......
from the Toronto Star:

OTTAWA–The Liberals and the New Democrats are today reviewing a tentative deal to dump Prime Minister Stephen Harper's minority government and try to take power with a coalition.

The deal, which is subject to approval by the Liberal and NDP caucuses, is a two-and-a-half year pact that would provide for a 24-member cabinet made up of 18 Liberals and six NDP, a Liberal source said.

The document containing the tentative agreement between the two parties will be shown to the Liberal and NDP caucuses in closed-door meetings later today.

Sources said the deal calls for the coalition government to deliver a federal budget immediately after taking office. The budget would include a major package of stimulus measures to shore up the troubled economy.

The NDP said this morning that the deal has not been signed but the two sides are "very close."

The game of high-stakes political intrigue has set the stage for a week in which Stephen Harper's Conservatives will fight to retain power. .......(more)

1. Political theater today is tremendous.
And except for the Conservatives, of course, the country feels a new sense of hope.

2. Such good news. As soon as harper tried to implement neocon crap
he gets busted and has to backtrack. I for one would love to see and NDP/Liberal coalition. I think they would govern really well. I almost cannot wait to see the news tonight (except my TV isn't working). But this on the back of Obama's win is very heavenly. So much good news in the last month. I can barely stand it.
