Isn't now the exact right time to institute the "liberal agenda"?

I keep hearing how Obama is going to have to put this or that program or policy to one side until the economic crisis is resolved. My question is, since it is the conservative agenda that has gotten us into this mess, how is the conservative agenda supposed to get us out? Here are some items on my "liberal agenda":

Higher minimum wage, much higher
Yeah, it'll cause some inflation, but if it puts money into the pockets of people who'll go out and spend....


Higher taxes on the top 5%, especially the top 1/2%
To paraphrase Willy Sutton - you got to go where the money is. Moving that money out of the pockets of the incredibly wealthy and into government infrastructure programs will help get things moving again.

Did I say infrastructure programs?
Put people to work designing, planning building and operating mass transit in our major metropolitan corridors. People get around easier (always good for business) and we burn less fuel doing it.

Reform health care
Spinning our wheels with the current mish-mosh of private and no insurance is costing the economy plenty. We need to get all businesses, from the Big 3 down to the guy down the street who wants to open a music store out from under the burden of health insurance costs.

Reform controls on banks and the stock market
You may have noticed that deregulation isn't working out so well.

Invest money in generating and distributing renewable energy
Cut greenhouse gas emissions, get us off foreign oil, put people to work, provide energy for companies to put other people to work, put us at the cutting edge of new technologies, what's not to love?

Better education for our young people, from pre-K to post-Grad
Some of our kids still can't even read while others graduate from college with a life time's worth of debt. How can the country prosper if we put such burdens on the next generation?

move a nation's wealth and resources from the many to the few --

and its highly successful in doing that --!!
