4 Million Sing National Anthem at Inauguration

Sadly, I am not going going to be able to attend, but I just had the though of how beautiful a moment it would be if everyone who was there, all at the same time, sang the National Anthem together on the Mall.

Can you imagine? Millions and Millions of Americans... singing in unity.

Think about it... the last line: Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner Yet Wave...????
Over the Land of the Free!!! And the Home, of the.... Brave

<<Yes It Does. and Yes We Can>>

I hope that this could somehow get organized. Just tell everyone to start singing before the clock strikes 12:00 Noon.

3. You know...
I kind of agree.

I've never been terribly fond of the war tones in the song.

But it is the National Anthem, and it is overplayed (at Sports games)...

Even though I don't like the wording of the song too much, it still causes feelings of patriotism in me. Strong feelings. Especially the last line.

I like the wording of Oh Beautiful a lot better (except for the religion), but don't care much for the sound of it.

Maybe there are other suggestions for synchronized singing. I think it would be good fun, were I going.

7. On the other hand
the Battle Hymn of the Republic, speaking purely musically, is one of the most moving pieces of music there is.

Not saying I want to hear it at the inaugural. I absolutely don't! I prefer America the Beautiful.

4. They can just put the lyrics on the screens they say they will have all over the mall
and have a ball bounce from word to word in proper time. What show did they do that on a long, long time ago?

This will be very, very cool.

5. I am more excited about the inarguration than I am about xmas. Probably because
my nieces and nephews will not be celebrating the holidays with us this year and we all know that chirstmas is magic when kids are around. But wow - I'm not even American and I'm so going to watch as much of the inarguration as I can.

8. only till 5 a.m....
sounds like false advertising to me. In my younger days, places got all night liquor licenses for New Years eve...which was always a blast. Maybe it's no longer kosher to party that hardy?

9. Unity, yes. Unison, no. Horribly unsingable song.
Although I expect no one's gonna give a rat's ass about it on that particular day. :bounce:

11. Why don't they start chanting Health Care for all instead of a song.
