Obama Staffer Caught Groping "Clinton"

Barack Obama's wunderkind speechwriter has joined the long list of folks who don’t seem to understand that the Web is, as the name implies, "world wide."

Photos of Jon Favreau – no, not the writer/actor/director of "Swingers" fame – found their way onto Facebook for a couple of hours earlier today. In one of them, the 27-year-old Favreau, is posed with a hand atop the head of a cardboard cutout of Hillary Clinton, the other hand groping the senator's right breast.

On Clinton's other side is a young man wearing an "OBAMA STAFF" t-shirt who is giving the secretary of State nominee a smooch and offering her a slug of his beer.

Aren't we the party which tries to realize that there can be a separation between peoples' personal lives and beliefs and their professional competence? Obama didn't hire this man to be a morality watchdog or instruct us all about proper posture. He hired this guy to write speeches. If he can do that well, that's what matters. Let's not forget that even someone like FDR himself had extra-marital relationships (such as he could in his condition), Kennedy was not a choir boy, etc. If we're not the kind of people who think that Clinton should have resigned because of personal indiscretions, then why get on this person's case for doing something much, much less serious.

All I think of when I see this picture is "that's crass". It's got nothing to do with whether he's a decent person or whether he can do the job he's been hired to do.

If Obama keeps him on, various politicos, encouraged by the O'Reillys and Hannitys will screech about it non-stop and make this non-story into a story - they've got to come up with something to attack him with.

It's not even about this speechwriter. He got drunk at a party and got caught on camera in a stupid pose. Big fucking whoop - I've done worse... I'd say publicly fire him, throw him under the bus if we have to - just to show that Obama Does Not Approve (TM). Then rehire him somewhere else within the organization, quietly.

I don't care about punishing him - it's about making this story go away so Obama can get real work done instead of wasting his time with this.
