I know its too late and I know the actual dollars were not that big a deal, but about Marine One |
|
Since there was a Marine One it has been USA Made Sikorsky, except for the very first ones, built by Bell and flown in only by Ike and only for a year or two. These were the very early plexiglas bubble cockpit jobbies with zero creature comforts. Everything after that has been Sikorsky.
But along come the Bushpublicans and we get some British/Italian thing built here under license by Lockheed Martin.
Why? The Sikorsky is still the best there is. And they could probably have used the work in Stratford, CT.
Oh yeah .... blue state.
Nevermind.
(I have a special place for Sikorsky. My dad worked there for nearly 40 years. Good Teamsters union job that allowed just his income to raise my brother and me and keep him and our mom comfortable and secure in their retirement.)
