DETROIT -- John Rossi walked 20 minutes in the freezing cold Friday and waited 30 minutes for the Salvation Army food truck.

It finally arrived, as it does at 12:30 every afternoon, near the Ambassador Bridge.

The truck windows opened. Rossi received a cup of hot soup and a bag with two sandwiches and an orange. Aboard the truck was Anand Shah, 41, a program management supervisor on the Ford Fusion team.

"I do (this) at least once a year," Shah said.

He's not alone.
