Have you noticed that when it comes to the pro-Detroit position, only the governor of Michigan is ever featured. But it seems like every single fucking "anti-Detroit" spokesman has come out of the woodwork, and they're ALL from the Southern "right-to-work" states. IOW, NO UNIONS.

I hope it's very clear what is going on here. We're witnessing a concerted effort by the corporate media and Republicans to completely undermine unions. That's all this is. The only people saying Detroit must die have heavy Southern drawls. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

3. Have you heard even one of these throwbacks
offer anything to help get us through this meltdown?

All I've heard is "No, we won't do that."

Did I miss hearing them offer any solutions to our financial problems, or are they willing to let the USA go down?

5. They are from states which have auto plants run by companies in direct competition with Big3.
They are trying to protect the interests of their states' citizens.

7. The south has been traditionally anti-union and it has something to
do with rw religion. I agree they should not have the whole floor.

10. And that is something I'll never understand. Unions could help so many Southerners

who, when they hear the word "union" act like a vampire confronted with a crucifix.

11. Actually, IIRC, it has to do with RACISM.

Back in they day white workers were told that they would be replaced by African-Americans if they tried to unionize. After a while everyone down there forgot exactly why they hated unions, they just did.

8. I am SO with you Atman...
It is relentless. My general reaction has been as if subjected to nails down a blackboard.... They go on un-contradicted by the bobbleheads.. No one mentions the 100% healthcare subsidy that the headquarters of these companies enjoy.. or the swamping of the US market..
