Rachel just said our tax dollars are paying for the Rose Bowl.
Where is the Rose Bowl played. Why should I give a fuck about a Rose Bowl other than the fact that my federal tax dollars are paying for it?

5. That's a bit of a stretch....

Here's the story"

Come Jan. 1 when Penn State takes on Oregon State (okay, maybe USC, maybe who knows) in the Rose Bowl, you can be proud in knowing you helped make that happen. Just by paying your taxes.

Citi is the latest massive financial corporation to get a bailout from the federal government. There also few major corporations that jumped in with both feet to sponsorship of sporting venues and events like Citi Group.

They have been getting a lot of heat in New York because City was a key part of financing the new Mets stadium that will house an underachieving team soon. A few <del>desperately opportunistic</del> well meaning politicians in New York want to change the stadium name to Taxpayer Field.

Citi also is the presenting sponsor of the 95th annual Rose Bowl (remember it’s The Rose Bowl presented by Citi, because somehow that sounds less like the guys in the blazers sold out for cash). But now, is that really the best way for Citi to spend its/our money?

It may be too late for Citi to pull out of its sponsorship, but how about a little recognition for those of us now footing the bill? Little help here?

At any rate, the Rose Bowl probably generates a LOT more in revenues to the economy than the money it takes from Citigroup and monies they received from any capital injections.

In addition- it's kept its tradition and hasn't sold out to corporate naming whores.
