Attorney: Blagojevich has no plans of resigning.
Oh, sure...it's "just politics"

Hell, Blagojevich's approval ratings were already low...I can't imagine this episode will improve things.

CHICAGO— The attorney for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich said the governor will be vindicated and he has no plans to resign.

"He didn't do anything wrong," attorney Sheldon Sorosky told reporters after Blagojevich was arraigned. "A lot of this is just politics."

Blagojevich should be in the office Wednesday, Sorosky added.

So, reporters asked, he does not intend to resign?

"Not that I know of, no," said Sorosky, who added that the governor was "surprised" by the day's events.

2. Well, people are, under this system, assumed "innocent" until found guilty by a jury of their peers.
Or do you fully trust in Fitz? I don't.

11. I don't "fully trust" anyone but myself and my immediate family members.
That's a dangerous attitude.

Fitz screwed up the Plame investigation, yet you think he's A OK. That's just ah, amazing in a sad way. :(

16. And as an elected official with a D after his name, he's supposed to be safe here too
Leave the piling on until after he is convicted, resigns, or is impeached. Until then, he is one of us.

12. "A lot of this is just politics..." especially here in Illinois
Corruption is king in this state, and Blago has certainly earned his crown. I see a lot of people saying Blago is somehow getting a raw deal and I can't help but think those folks have never spent any time in Illinois or involved in our politics.

Obama was known in several circles as being "clean" in how he conducted his campaigns and his races. Blago, on the other hand, was known as being about as dirty as it gets. This is not news either because I remember when Blago ran in that first Primary (against Vallas and all the others) there was a vote Blago made in Congress on an airport safety bill that went against the Dem bill that would have limited (oddly enough) SEIU's ability to organize airport screeners.

Blago gave SEIU the vote they wanted and they endorsed him in that primary shortly after--along with giving him a large amount of campaign money.

He was whoring himself even then and I actually wrote to his campaign manager and said that as long as Blago was willing to whore the safety of the American people I would work against him in any Primary. I later kinda regretted being that direct in writing, because Blag won that Primary and I knew that IF there was a shit list of Dems in Illinois I was probably on it.

Blago's shit list is not a bad place to be right now, I guess...

15. Impeach the bastard. He hurts the IL Dems every day he's in office. The only way
to stop the bleeding is to cauterize the wound. The Dems have to lead the charge to get rid of Blago, or they can kiss that Senate seat and that Governor's mansion bye-bye.
