Blago killed no one..idiot yes, fool yes, killer no..the real scandal is Bush/Cheney. |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-09-08 09:26 PM by Stuart G
Bush /Cheney killed and tortured in the name of the U.S.A.
Blago is a fool, stupid enough to get caught, and perhaps wanted to..
Fitz. should be appointed "Special Prosecutor" put the handcuffs on Bush and Cheney.. That would make my day. This is a like a small chuckle ... nothing more.

20. See, there's this thing called "evidence." You have to present it if you want to win a case. |
|
It's awfully hard to present it when the people you're investigating all destroy it or lie about its existence. The only thing you can do then is charge the roadblock with obstruction of justice. Which he did. And which he won.

Gee, Snarky, I didn't know that. :sarcasm:
I have heard you can actually gather evidence by forcing witnesses to testify under oath. Some witnesses didn't testify under oath. Some witnesses are more equal than others. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Maybe Fitzgerald didn't want to open Cassandra's box, but let's not make him into some Eliot Ness-like hero. The truth is far less flattering.

|
Thirty five years ago, a Secretary of State in Illinois, Paul Powel, died suddenly. They went to his apartment, and found three million in cash, in shoeboxes...Yes, shoeboxes. How it got there? long story...This is small potatoes comedy, nothing new
The real deep tragedy, is with Bush/ Cheney. now, yesterday, tomorrow. let us not forget.

Blagojevich is accused of, but Governor's go down for some pretty silly stuff. It is fascinating how much the big boys get away with, and how easily amped up the public is over the crumbs that are tossed. Meanwhile if you get caught with weed or coke, you'll probably end up doing more time than Abramoff.

So is extorting children's hospitals. So is threatening newspapers to get them to fire journalists who write articles critical of you. What silly small-potatoes stuff!

|
there won't be ANY MONEY for a true stimulus package.
We, in the good ole' USA will have to "low crawl" to the World Bank because our corrupt politicians (both parties) are stealing us blind while we get "all pissy" about the small stuff.
Fitz DROPPED THE BALL on Executive Branch Treason. IMO, he's as corrupt as BushCo.

10. Libby killed no one and we wanted him locked up |
|
Same goes to Rove. They deserved jail, and Libby got it.
If we say that only killing is a bad enough crime then we would be condoning Libby's actions.

13. Correct, these are bad guys, Rove, Libby, should go to jail.. |
|
and I agree, that killing isn't the only crime..yes,
But evil has certain levels in my opinion. The misuse of power which results in death, harm, or needless pain stands above theft and lies. If those lies and theft lead to death..Libby for example..let the punishment equal the ultimate crime.
Rove's crimes against humanity involve death, since Bush was result, and destruction of the Constitution. An interesting argument, I believe

11. Compared to Schimpanski, *any* crooked pol looks like small potatoes . . . |
|
However, Blagojevich (if guilty) is still a major crook by normal standards and a huge albatross around Obama's neck, Illinois' neck, the party's neck, the country's neck.
How much did it cost progressive causes that Jefferson of Louisiana wasn't run out of the party when his indiscretions -- much less serious than Blag's -- were brought to light? How much does it cost whenever a dem turns out to be a crook or a moral cripple?
Lots.
Votes, credibility, the ability to maneuver politically, and honorability, at a minimum. I don't want to be spending those credits on pond scum.

I'm embarassed by some of the apologists here. And amazed that they would think that it would help the Democratic party to make excuses for blago or try to minimize what he is accused of doing or to try distraction strategies to deflect attention from his crimes. Pathetic is too poite a word for these idiots.

Bush and Cheney - yes - I agree that they are much worse.
But, we can't let corruption at any level go b/c what Bush and Cheney did was worse.
If Blago is guilty then he should pay. We shouldn't let any of our elected officials get away with the things he is accused of.

24. Not a convincing argument |
|
Corruption can potentially cause a lot of damage, especially to a citizen's confidence in his/her government.
Not to mention the actual damage done by the corruption.
Blag's misdeeds are not on the same level as Bush/Cheney, but damaging nonetheless.

Sadly, many other corrupt assholes will get none. Look at the media coverage of this one. I wonder if the media coverage of this, at this time..right now, exceeds the pardon of Libby? Or the total coverage of the lies on Katrina....(I am talking about mainstream media..and specific Bush lies and incompetence on Katrina. mainly TV.) What to you think?
