Naming yourself Senator does not look good when you just spent the day in the clink getting booked on federal corruption charges.

Methinks his attorneys will probably tell him to keep quiet, and possibly resign to avoid impeachment.

They've got the right to determine if someone was legitimately elected to the Senate, they can expel members who get in anyway or who otherwise cross lines, etc. It's all there in Article I.
