Some random thoughts and observations for a Wednesday morning... |
|
What is inherently wrong with politicians? What is this lust for power, this feeling that many of them have that they can get away with anything, that they won't get caught?
How long has our US political system been solely about running/winning/being in power at the expense of actually governing or trying to do good by the people?
How deep is the emotional well that the country - indeed the world - is in? Are we on the way down, at the bottom, or on the way up? Or is this just a total paradigm shift and we will need to readjust to the current situation?
Our neighborhood is exhibiting the world's mood - far fewer decorations in windows and lighting up bushes, far fewer people out there shopping (not that there is anything wrong with either, but it is an indicator I think). People are hunkered down. People are depressed.
Holidays are lightning rods for a good emotional crash - our family has seen a number of recent deaths (two fathers, an aunt, uncle and cousin), and a job loss (mine) - put that together with the daily round of awful news....
I am thankful for Obama's victory - it is the only glimmer of light in a pretty bleak situation right now (and I am an optimist!!!!)
