The Texas governor’s office became the latest to receive a suspicious package containing white powder.

The Dallas FBI office has been investigating the letters that usually have a Dallas postmark and have been mailed to governors in Texas, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Michigan, Mississippi, Alabama, Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Alaska and Maine.

The Texas package arrived Wednesday at a state office building about 100 yards from the Capitol and was addressed to the governor’s office. The mailroom was put on alert Monday when the first rash of packages began appearing in other states.

Testing showed that the envelope contents “appear to be a harmless powdery substance,” Ms. Cesinger said.
