7 attack questions from politico for Obama presser tomorrow

Politico gives a heads up on questions they want answered-

1 – “Did you communicate directly or indirectly with Blagojevich about picking your replacement in the U.S. Senate?”

2 – “Why didn’t you or someone on your team correct your close adviser David Axelrod when he said you had spoken to Blagojevich about picking your replacement?”

3. “When did you learn the investigation involved Blagojevich’s alleged efforts to ‘sell’ your Senate seat, or of the governor’s impending arrest?”

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said it was not until Tuesday that Obama learned the details of the complaint against Blagojevich – the same day it was released to the public – and wouldn’t say exactly when or how Obama was notified.

But at least some people got an early heads-up: Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. told reporters that he was notified Monday night by federal prosecutors that the investigation was coming to a head, that an arrest was imminent and that Jackson was not a target.

4 – “Did you or anyone close to you contact the FBI or U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald about Blagojevich’s alleged efforts to sell your Senate seat to the highest bidder?”

13. No, it's a wonderful thing.

But all these questions are closed end. The answers require statements of fact without supposition and are forever. There won't be any, "what I really meant was" or "I can't recall." Not everything stands up to the light of day in politics and I suspect that all questions will be vetted before being asked and any requiring more than a simple yes or no won't be asked.

All three characters, Blogo the Perp, Rahm the Finger and BO the Innocent Bystander are members of the Daley political machine. To suppose that their relationships haven't over time been intimate is naive. Fitzgerald is the wild-card. Why would, "I'm sitting on something golden here", pull the trigger on a 2 year investigation? Then there's the lack or real protest from Blagojevich himself, crook...partner...patsy? It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

15. While we all hate the "there is an on-going investigation" response, in

this particular case, Fitz still has a grand jury or hearing to get through for his indictment. Depending on the factual situation, many of these question are ones that he might not be able to answer right now, without creating problems for Fitz's case at this time. People have to be patient to get these answers, though I know this will never happen.

Is what PE Obama will say to them as he should as he moves on to more pressing problems that we have so many of and that the press has helped in creating all along.
