These repubic motherfuckers want the car loan to force LOWER WAGES |
|
The MOTHERFUCKING repubic assholes want any loan approval to bering UAW wages down to the level of their lovingly subsidized 'transplants' in their lovingly cultivated RIGHT TO WORK states.
They want the UNIONS to give back what they worked for.
Are you Big Three haters happy now?
You hearing this?
LOWER WAGES equals a BUSTED UNION.
ARE YOU FUCKING HAPPY???????????

because I don't want the unions to be busted. The problem with concessions is when the company recovers those that gave concessions aren't given any consideration.

10. When I was a child, I was taught that the Republican Party was the party of business. |
|
The Democratic Party was the party of labor. The lines between the two have blurred in recent decades, especially with this fad called neoliberalism, but the essential point with the Republican Party that you should remember is that it represents the interests of those who hold the most wealth in the US as well as everybody who follows them, such as the uninformed or even the willfully ignorant who are blinded by free market ideology.

as Thatcher wanted us to do without them, as much as our system would permit. No such thing as society. Unions are Bad. People will only work hard if they feel threatened. Who cares about preserving industry (it just encourages unions!); all that matters are the banks, the service industries and Big Money,
Add the Christian Right's religious fervour to the mix and you get some REAL insanity

I've yet to get a patriotic conservative to answer this question: If the unions, which have been around for a long long time, are responisible for the demise of the auto industry why did it not go out of business a long time ago?

It is possible for them to oppose 2 different bailouts for 2 different reasons. GOP congresspukes "opposed" the Wall Street bailout in a last ditch effort to score political points back home and save their miserable hides. Now they are opposing the bailout because they want to destroy the union.

44. No. I think that the best solution is something like this: |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 05:35 PM by Occam Bandage
-An immediate pay cut of 20%, with a pay hike of 6% of the current wage level added over each of the next five years. This is, you will note, a net 10% raise.
-Government takes over their health care, treating UAW workers as if they were Federal employees. Single-payer for all Americans within 4 years.
-Current pensions are untouched. Retirement age for future pensioners raised to 65.

36. Blaming the unions is grandstanding, pure and simple |
|
Yes, auto wages and benefits will probably have to come down. And guess what: the UAW and most of the employees know this! They have been VERY flexible and have already pledged major concessions.
Yet the corporate lackeys don't care. To them, it's not that everyone - yes, the unions but management too - has to make concessions, but rather that ONLY the unions have to make concessions. And not just "some" concessions. They want the unions and the workers to roll over and lose everything.

And no, I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about people like Sens. Corker and Demint -- the GOP senators who are killing the bailout unless the auto companies drastically reduce wages and dismantle the unions.
I don't think it's hyperbole to suggest that that's their agenda. I'm not a screaming ideologue, nor am I blind to the fact that the unions have, historically, had flaws as well, but in the current climate, their getting an awful lot of shit that they don't deserve.

26. That's why any bailout has to |
|
include provisions that actually protect the workers. You can't just hand money to the Big Three CEOs and assume it's going to save jobs, wages, or benefits. We saw that with the bank bailout. The CEOs will just stuff a couple of billion in their shorts, waste the rest, and then lay off hundreds of thousands of people.
We need to give them the money -- but we need to give labor a majority position on the board of directors, limit CEO salaries and other forms of compensation of $1 million a year, and set a timetable for producing fuel-efficient vehicles, with clear measurements for compliance.
If they went to the bank for a loan, the bank would demand a rock-solid business plan. If they went to a venture capitalist, the VC would demand a business pland AND a 51 percent share of the company. We should expect no less -- and should have done the same the with banks. I was against that handout too, as long as there were no safeguards in place.

I was hoping for much fairer, more sophisticated arguments from those opposed to the bail out as it is written.
I would love to know why the 20 or so Dems who voted against it did so (in Congress). I am certain it was not because of the union people.
The UAW is not the problem. I could say much more about this, but I'm just disgusted.
