Family of soldier killed in Iraq recall meeting with Bush: "you don't seem bitter" Bush asked them
7 part series that, imo is worth reading...

Americans have yet to learn the legacy of the war in Iraq. In Wichita, a family who lost their soldier son to a roadside bomb in Baghdad personally confronted President Bush with a message — one that could resonate for years.

A lot of sons and daughters died, they told the president. They asked him whether their son died for nothing.

You don't seem bitter, the president of the United States had just told the Funcheon family. Are you?

Karen thought this was an odd question. Of course they were bitter. They had lost their son Alex six weeks before. Karen had wanted to die every day since.

"No," Bob said.

You... well, Bush said, his voice trailing off.

He thought for a moment.

I'm supposed to be the encourager here, he said.

The Funcheons looked puzzled. Bush tried to explain:

Well... the word around the White House is that I'm the Encourager in Chief, among other things. Word is that I'm the Commander in Chief, the Decider in Chief... the Encourager in Chief.

Apparently this was a White House joke. Bush smiled.

8. part that stood out to me
'Of course they were bitter. They had lost their son Alex six weeks before. Karen had wanted to die every day since'

This is true. as a mother whose son has crossed over, I have not yet met a mom who has been thru this who doesnt want to go also. In fact, every mom I speak with on bereavement forums who has had a child pass on, wants to follow them. Some of them do. I have spent many a night trying to talk a mom out of it. They spent many nights trying to talk me out of it.
And it doesnt get better in time, despite what many people want to believe. It actually gets harder.
So, after reading this, I wish I could wish on Bush what is happening to this mother. It does not get better. It got better for me after my husband crossed, but it doesnt get better after a child. ever.
It gets worse. and thats what Bush has done to these people. Their lives will always be wanting to follow their son. believe me.
He has a lot of karma piling on him.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding this very sensitive topic. With Bush while he believes he's the comforter in chief, he's more of the the psychopath in chief...

9. This story just proves that he's clueless...
He has no idea what's going on anywhere, or any way to realize.

His head is in the clouds. It's the puppeteers that are playing him. Bush is a tragedy, in a way. The corrupt Republican crooks around him are exploiting him, and he has no way or method of knowing the gravity of his actions.

He's just completely clueless.
