I am amazed at how fast we come back to being made to feel that.

1. If you're union. If you're gay.
Fuck you. We know you would cut off your own arm before pulling the lever (so to speak) for a Republican. And perhaps they are right, but I think 'they' need to be booted out of office, for starters.

2. I don't feel it
Never did. What I did feel is that my vote may not be counted as cast.

I, quite frankly, don't know if I'll ever vote again.

Waht the fuck good does it do?

This froma guy who has voted in every election of his adult life, which is about twice as many years as those he could not vote.

4. Yup
My progressive vote taken for granted. Royal treatment for the Fundie and the free trade hacks, though.

7. They're making a HUGE mistake if they complacently think that
We're not going to keep voting dem no matter how badly we're abused by them, told our needs and desires are pathetic/silly/stupid, thrown under the bus time after time and told to wait--just wait--always wait for our rights. There are limits.

10. What does it matter ?
If you vote a certain "party" because you think you personally will be rewarded, then shame on you. Hopefully most citizens vote for who "best" represents their values a majority of the time and is willing to steer an entire nation in the direction you would "like" to see it headed. Believing you selected a candidate that is your twin and would do your things exactly as you would like, well that is just hubris.

At the end of the day, I expect to be "let down" to think my "selection" was wrong. But in retrospect, what other choices did I have at the time and most importantly can I honestly expect them to be more like me than those I'm angry with that I actually voted for ? No of course not.

It is what it is dude, enjoy the ride if you can.

Peace,
MZr7

17. The problem is that people convince themselves that the Democratic
candidate will represent their values and then are disappointed to discovery when the person begins to govern that the candidate does not represent the voter's values at all.

Some of Obama's choices and decisions represent my values, and some don't.

I did not expect much of him. I supported him and I worked for him -- but I always felt he was vague. I preferred Edwards. I preferred Edwards' ideas and his approach. He could not win so I backed Obama. Am I somewhat disappointed? Yes. Am I also somewhat happily surprised. Yes. The Hilda Solis appointment may be very good.

11. I think it's ridiculous to think that WE are all of one voice and mind and opinion here,
much less that all Dems or all Obama-voters would have the same views on the issues.

12. Registered Independent Here - Democrats Want My Vote - They Have To Earn It
Likewise, with the stupidity just shown by Obama - they can lose my vote equally fast

13. Too bad it's not a Democracy..
where 'we the people' actually involve ourselves with government. We elect a selective few people, throw them in the cesspool that is D.C., and then cede all power and expect them to do what is right. I was amazed at how few comments were posted at Change.gov. Plenty of opinion expressed everywhere else, but mum there. I wonder how many people emailed their representatives, or the Congressional Inauguration Committee.

14. It doesn't take long. The election is over.
The miscalculation is that we will turn out with the same urgency next time no matter how they govern, who they cater or listen to, or what they might not fix. There is no bush/Cheney they can hang their hat on this time.

15. Adult choices.
Many of the choices we face in life are dilemmas- which of two (or more) bad options do we choose? Voting is no different. In contemporary America I find that my choice may be unpleasant but it is also very easy. Republicans: sworn enemies. Democrats: unreliable friends and allies. And the not voting option only strengthens my enemies.

I work and vote for progressives in the primaries and Democrats in elections. Sometimes I have to hold my nose. That's life.

Obama was my third choice in the Democratic primary season. I ended up donating money, phonebanking, and going door to door for his campaign. The alternative was Sarah Palin and the man who chose her as his Vice Presidential nominee. I'm happy as hell that my third choice won- if only because America was offered a chance to jump off a cliff- and didn't.

18. Excuse me, could we have an apologist step in please.
We have an entire post here drifting far too left of center with no ray of sunshine arising from the right. While it feels great to have the board as it should be, history proves that these people won't pay the bills around here as they can't pay their own.

So please, apologists, net nannies, O'bots and party monkeys, lend a hand here.
