Bambi's Mein Kampf & 30 days, six hours, twelve minutes & counting...

For weeks, George W. Bush has been slithering down memory lane, and God knows we all very much appreciate the keen insights he has had to offer. And were they all to be stuffed into an oversized memoir, which of course they soon will be, I'd suggest Bambi's Mein Kampf as a spanking-good title.

Heaven forbid that George's chief regret could be his utter inability to protect 3,000 American lives on a certain dark day in September, 2001.

Or that he has exchanged, to date, an even greater number of additional American lives for the life of one -- 1 -- dictator who posed no threat.

Or that he reduced intelligent interrogation to brutal Gestapo tactics, or obliterated his nation's honor, or haughtily rebuffed the world's good will when we needed it the most.

Or that he treated the U.S. Constitution as a quaint manifesto of polite suggestions.

Or that he ideologically indulged in ruthlessly draining the public treasury, so that his successor, in the inexorable emergency, would have nary a rainy-day pot to piss out of.
