Warren needs to humbly pass...not that he will...but its the right thing to do... |
|
Just cant see any other way around this...I know he came out and said he would not..but in the interest of unity...and healing...he simply must...I learned a long time ago to always show my enemy a way out...provide their exit for them...rather than back into a corner...somehow, Warren needs to graciously figure out that an event which is absolutely necessary for the healing of this country is creating divide...and it is NOT about him or his agenda....any ideas for providing a gracious exit from this debacle?

3. Well, he's picked him and alienated the major part of his base, didn't he? |
|
Doesn't he have to get his complete base back? Is he not the president-elect? The one that decides what gets done and what doesn't? Isn't he the last word?
If he's a worthwhile president, he will dismiss him himself. Acting as if he were campaigning for 1 or 2 votes is wrong and he's effectively alienating his base the more the days pass. He needs to act now.

11. His choice of warren alienated a whole lot of people and I guess that's just fine with |
|
some. I guess Obama doesn't mind alienating groups of people who supported him, in favor of those who didn't and who never will, for the sake so-called unity. He's off to a bad start.

16. Obama didn't have much problem dismissing Rev. Wright, did he? |
|
Inviting Rick Warren to speak was an unbelievably stupid move on Obama's part.

4. Warren is catching a lot of heat from his supporters. |
|
THEY feel betrayed and outraged. The religious right are pissed at him for taking the gig. Hopefully, he will drop. I;m not holding my breath, but I do hope.

5. I have been wondering whether Warren is catching flak from the fundies |

for agreeing to participate in an event celebrating the election of a guy who was supported by millions of fetus-aborting, global-warming-believing, gay-approving, war-hating, not-necessarily-Jesus-worshipping commie librul treehugger freaks. It seem to me that the only way that pompous Falwell-reincarnated asshat would bow out is if he got too much pressure from his followers.

6. Unfortunately YOU can't always have it YOUR way and this is one of those times. |
|
Obama made the choice, Warren accepted and it is now a done deal. Obama needs to have the support of EVERYONE for the greater good of ALL. It is time to move on.

7. unfortunately...this pick is very divisive...its a tricky situation...not a healthy healing move.. |
|
especially given the turmoil surround prop 8...and warrens support of it...which some believe is unconstitutional..including attorney general jerry brown..obama cant win in this situation...but we dont have to move on...

It is NOT time to move on it is time to be pissed off.
The only thing we can do is send Obama emails telling him how we feel. Now for the best thing we can do. Send Warren emails thanking him for his public support of gay rights since he is speaking at the Inauguration of the man who said he supports rights for all Americans.

that if Warren deviates from the script, Obama can say: "Are you wondering why your country is so fucked up? It's because you listen to assholes like this and that makes you idiots!"
Of course it would have to be slightly more "Presidential" in tone.
