Love is love
Edited on Sat Dec-20-08 04:09 PM by Richd506
I have always believed that love is the most sacred thing we have and cherish and to say that gays cannot marry is the same thing as to say that gender comes before love. That is the most fundamental reason why it is wrong to demonize homosexuality.

From that point onward, there are other good reasons why banning gay marriage is wrong. In a sense, it makes the assumption that gays cannot practice their faith by getting married (because gay people can be religious. I have many gay friends who are).

Thirdly, it's none of the government's business. I know that gays do not choose their lifestyle. And yet even if they did, choosing to be gay isn't wrong either. And that's how the government ought to treat it. Like a choice but then to also respect that choice. K & R if you agree with anything I've said. And be nice everyone. It seems like there's a civil war going on at DU over Rick Warren and I'm hoping you could use this thread for constructive discussion and not for negativity.

2. K&R I don't know how to tell someone they can not marry
If you have met two people that are so solid in their relationship that it inspires you to want that same love, then why would you say you can't marry.

3. True
And it looks like we're gonna end the laws discriminating against sexual orientation sooner rather than later. We should, it's the right thing to do.

4. my dear friend is a lesbian.
she and her partner were together for over 30 years. last year her partner died. my friend was beneficiary of her life insurance policy. it seems the parents are contesting this. had they been married i doubt whether this would have been a problem.
