Why Do People Cling To Failed Conservatism ?
30 years of Conservative Rule since Ronny Raygun.. has plunged this country into the worst Depression since 1929.

Yet.... Conservatives cling to failed ways and ideas?

1. Because they are true believers first and foremost--before and above everything else.
In fact, I'm wondering if that isn't the biggest difference between people who are liberal and people who are morans: whether they can have an open mind, or if they have already made up their minds about everything before getting any information.

10. I think you hit it..... they fear change and growth.,....
.. as we run out of oil... our infrastructure collapses and the sick go begging at the hospital door... change is the only thing that will be constant.

Our media is criminal in this instance.

6. The reason is right in the word
"Conserve" Right wingers want to "conserve" some notion of an America that has never really existed, but that has been made up and glorified. They are about some kind of "tradition" or "orthodoxy" that was mainly just a smoke screen. Family values, Bible values, Fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility. None of those ideas were ever really embraced by the leaders and many of the members of the "conservative" Republican party. However, it is a good rallying cry for people who think that these idea will bring about American dominance and personal wealth even though they would never have a real part in it.

7. Because they are stoopid.
Well, that's one of 3 main characteristics I've been able to identify about the pukes that I know.

1. Lack of brainpower
2. Abundance of hatred for most things, especially themselves
3. Abundance of money and an insatiable need for more

Sometimes only one, sometimes all 3.

Like the woman who comes into my shop frequently. She voted for Obama but only because of her intense dislike of McCain/Palin. It was enjoyable watching her (I thought) transform into a sentient being during the campaign but now that the election is over she's in here spouting her nonsensical drivel almost daily.

Today she found the Drudge Report. :eyes: Do you think Obama or Putin have better pecs? I could care less, I answered, why? They're taking a poll on this neat website, Drudge Report. :puke:

Even after all the discussions we had this fall about meaningless distractions being foisted on us to keep us from focusing on real issues. It's like none of it ever happened. :spank:

8. wanting absolute answers that never change,
wanting to see the world in easy black and white answers, that dont require critical thinking. wanting to feel 'safe', wanting no change from anything, wanting to 'control' situations. basically its fear. fear is always the root of it. but i sometimes see the same fears in some liberals also.

14. This is true......
Why they cling to failed conservatism is the same reason they cling to religion and guns, and that is fear, fear is at the root of their thinking.

Yup.

Really.

That's what their preachers have been telling them.

Now ... why do they believe those guys? Maybe someone else knows the answer to that one.

16. My relatives don't.
Really they don't.

They are personable, fairly-well educated, middle class, mostly professional.

But they have been inundated since they were wee ones, that the Devil is trying to fool them at every turn. They can't believe their eyes, their ears, or their brains because that's just how Satan fools us!

The thing about a moderately capable brain is that it can be persuaded to participate in maintaining it's own delusion.

In other words, they are proud of not believing their own, lying eyes.

19. I think the people that cling to conservatism are the following:

1) Males that are sociopathic and have an inability to reason, conceptualize, analyze, and empathize;
2) Females who are so desperate to have a male next to them that they will adopt absolutely ANY philosophy a male has, no matter what it is.
