There is no Dem unity on this issue

Which discourages me almost as much as the fact that there IS a division among Dems on this issue at all.

After viewing Biden's comments on Larry King, it's clear that the incoming administration does not consider us it's base. They'd rather have the fundies and the less well informed among us.

in opposition, there is less chance that Obama will reverse himself, correct?

So, had we been unified Obama MIGHT have canned him from the program.

And that's the real tragedy.

P.S. It's still almost a month away, perhaps he will yet get canned, even without pressure from all progressives, because it is the right thing to do.

10. Religion does not play fair

Why should it? The rest of us are WRONG and should be brought to heel.

There are far more believers among us who privately revel in the thought of more and more religion being brought into society. There are many who, although liberal and decent in other ways, thirst for a sweet and rosy theocracy. There are many who just see no danger in it at all and consider people like me lunatics or defectives in need of salvation.

There are many who actually think he's not so bad and we can win over the reactionaries with kindness.
