Well, Central Ohio. Another Air America affiliate officially bites it.
1580 WVKO has been sold to a Catholic Church. Fundie bullshit 24/7! The right again uses big bucks to silence dissension... There are no left talk radio stations here now. So much for the fairness doctrine. I will say that WVKO was run into the ground by shitty local programming, weak advertising draw, complete lack of talent, and bad management. The only decent local show was "Fight Back" with Bob Fitrakis. The stupid asses would preempt the Bill Press show with the same fucking infomercial shit almost every morning. On Sundays, WVKO was un-listenable.

I fucking hate Ohio sometimes...

1. I grew up there. Escaped as soon as I could.

But that said, I always feel like the progressive radio station in the D.C. area (WRC am 1260)is hanging on by a thread too - and they have infomercials as well.

3. If they had run more of Air America content there would have
been more advertising dollars to support them.

6. The right wing controls all media in Central Ohio
From the Columbus Dispatch, to Clear Channel's ownership of just about all radio stations here. Bernard Ohio LLC is no exception. They control the stations format which is right-wing talk and religious programming. Is this difficult for you to understand or are you just being obtuse?

7. Especially those of us who were born there and escaped.
Edited on Wed Dec-24-08 02:07 PM by stopbush
It was depressing when I lived there as a kid. I left for NYC in 1977 and never looked back. Now, living the life in SoCal. My entire immediate family lives in Ohio, but I haven't visited in years. Such a depressing place...not to mention the high number of Mr T franchises that despoil every other corner.

8. Guess I escaped before the Mr. T franchises moved in.

Despite my family's deep Ohio roots I never felt I belonged there. I think the Native Americans may have left a few curses lying around
as the settlers stole their land.

11. Oh, there's some decent things about Ohio
but why, WHY must they insist on cutting their pizza into squares?

12. Not everyone hates Ohio. Not everyone wants to escape.
Some of us even came back after leaving.

And not all of us cut our pizza into squares.
