Rick Warren’s Religious Takeover in Africa

Timothy Kincaid
December 22nd, 2008

Pastor Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church loves to tell time and again about all the good he and his church are doing for AIDS victims in Africa. But what else is he doing on that continent?

From all evidence, it appears that he is meddling in the Church of England’s internal conflict over homosexuality. As we have discussed, the Anglican Church worldwide is threatened with schism because Bishops in Africa and Asia think that the American Episcopalians and Canadian Anglicans are too pro-gay.

(...)

Although Rick Warren is not Episcopal and has no business whatsoever in intruding himself into the debate, that has not slowed him at all in taking sides with the anti-gay Africans and encouraging schism.

(...)

Behind Warren’s AIDS support in Africa appears to be a less selfless motivation. It seems that Warren seeks to build a "Purpose Driven” empire in Africa. He first effort was in Rwanda which adopted his Purpose Driven Living program in 2005 (in 2007 the President of Rwanda supported a law criminalizing same-sex conduct), followed by his trip to Uganda in 2006.

1. Wow, Warren is playing with fire
He may be a rising star(with too much help from Obama, IMO), but all of this stepping on toes is likely to catch up with him at some point...

I await that show with glee.

4. Like most control freaks, Warren believes it is better to ask for forgiveness ...
... than to ask for permission.

7. delighted to be REC #5, and a mighty strong...
:kick: :kick: :kick: :kick: :kick:

If you don't think Warren is a real threat - open your mind to many of the maneuvers he's already made and the path he has carved for himself, to the point of persuading PE Obama to select him to give the invocation on Inauguration Day!

HE'S A THREAT TO CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

9. C'mon.......
you didn't think he was lending a helping hand from the kindness of his heart, did you? People like Warren don't just help people because they want too or because they think its right or because the bible says you should, they do it because they have something to gain. Whether it be for publicity or money or in this case an opportunity to take his anti-gay views world wide.
