4. Candlelight services this evening at the Methodist church around the corner.
Not visiting family in WI this year, so I thought I would go. Never been to that church before, but I can walk so it's my first choice.

I'm having dinner by meself tomorrow and I'm not lonely or sad, amazingly enough. I told a friend to come for dinner (coq au vin) if they closed the 14 and she couldn't get to HER family gathering.

11. Midnight Mass
at 10PM, of course!

I had to warn the kids a while back to take it easy sampling the egg nog and Bailey's and special beer. They all brought a bottle to share, and all those little sips can add up!

Being lit for Midnight Mass is an old tradition better remembered than honored!

23. I have never, in my 48 years, attended a religious service
on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

I did spend 3rd and 4th grade at a Lutheran school, because they had after school child care for my single working mom. Back in the 60s.

While there, I played a "wiseman" for the school Christmas play. That's the closest I've gotten.

In 9th grade, I babysat for neighbors who went to midnight mass.

Why?

33. No.
:wtf:

Why would I feel guilty? I asked why you want to know if anyone attends a religious service.

Curiosity is not guilt.

Truthfully, I'm wondering why anyone would ask, or care, unless they were gearing up to proselytize, of course.

The season, and the holiday, is not about attending religious services. At least, it's not for me. And that's all that really counts, when it comes to how I choose to spend it.

I'm spending today with family. We're enjoying each other's company. I came home mid-day to see if the pipes were thawed enough to get me some water, and am heading back.

Hope your holiday, religious or no, is as nice as mine.

30. I'm snowed in, and have been for nearly a week.
BUT I have lights, tons of stored food. Yeah! I'll have a quiet Christmas with just me and my 88 year old dad who lives next door.

When I was a little girl we always went to services in the church my grandfather built. That old church was very special to me, and Christmas services, and Easter sunrise services were wonderful.

31. 8:30 AM Mass at the cathedral
Thankfully, the celebrant is Father Joe, the wonderful rector, and not the somewhat aloof bishop.

37. if whistling "Oh Holy Night", playing "Silent Night" on the concertina and . . .
reading Luke 2:1-20 counts, I had my own private service, as per usual. I haven't attended a Christmas service since 1974.

In the interim, I've darkened the door of a church for 3 weddings and one baptism. I joke that I'm one of seven known people to be booted from the Lutheran Church.
