2. Yesterday I read about the memorial service on the ABC
website and looked at some of the comments. They were complaining that 1) it's not 'newsworthy' and shouldn't be reported and 2) it's illegal to scatter human ashes so close to inhabited areas and he should be fined.

Real empathetic bunch.

3. I don't think it is illegal
I remember when the widow of a friend scattered her husband's ashes at a ceremony surrounded by many people. We thought it was a blessing and honor to be there.

4. Oh, I'm sure it's not illegal. Just Freeper nonsense, trying to
create outrage over nothing.

6. Actually, it's illegal in a lot of surprising places
like remote national parkland, something to do with the national park service not wanting to be responsible for maintaining a grave site. It's really stupid because scattering ashes means scattering them to the wind, not creating any sort of permanent monument to visit and decorate.

I think it should be avoided over populated areas, only, and only because it would tend to squick people out every time they dusted the computer.

5. Freepers will say/do anything in an effort to deny empathy to someone they hate.

And they are full of hate for those who aren't like themselves. Because, really, deep down, they hate themselves.

9. Angling to get such a private moment to make it public is unbelievably crass.
