3. Just a thought on the religious side of this |
|
According to their story Jesus died for our sins... thus we're supposed to sin because we're human. According to the same such story if we accept Jesus and God and repent we will be accepted into Heaven regardless of what sins occur. It is by this reasoning that many murderers in prison are able to "find god" and believe they too will go to Heaven despite their sins.
So the fundamental question I have is this. If we're supposed to sin, as the story of Jesus supposedly says, then why are we spending all of this time going after anyone that might sin (even if there is no proof that homosexuality is a sin from the actual bible that is for Christians, the New Testament)?
Who cares what sinning they do if all they have to do is repent for it at the end? And seriously if we're all lowly sinners anyway and as we've seen the holier than thou crowd and even high ranking members of the church are some of the biggest sexual deviants out there, then who the fuck are any of us to judge one another in God's eyes?
I think too many people have zero idea about what being a Christian actually means. They read the wrong book (Old Testament), never follow the tenets of Christ and sit back in judgment of others when they themselves are nowhere near infallible.
Okay.. I just wanted to add that to the discussion. :)

Pointing out sin in others is always easier than dealing with your own sin. We don't see any big movements against pride, because everyone is guilty of pride, and everyone would have to deal with it. No fundie Christian is going to admit to being gay, so it's easy to jump on that bandwagon . . . you don't have to do anything.

4. If God did not, then... |

Is Warren willing to admit that Satan is capable of creation? Wouldn't that mean that God is NOT the One Creator Of All?

God is all powerful right? Never makes mistakes, knows the future and the past, knows what you will do before you do it. So EVERYTHING is set. So how can there be "sin" - since there is no choice.
OR
God is NOT all powerful (fundy heads explode here...) So we have "choice". So are we or is "choice" more powerful than god? Is it "god" if it's not "all powerful"? And as the result of this "choice" the only recourse is that god burns us forever in hell if we choose wrong???? But he love us.... (to paraphrase George Carlin)... Sounds pretty stupid to me.

12. I prefer to try to do as Jesus advised Whether he was a magician, politician, con-man, |

bi-polar genius, hindu/buddist-influenced teacher(my belief), or God Made Flesh (doubtful,imo)...the guy made some great points, all of which are very, very challenging to live by, but are sublimely, revolutionarily kind and loving.
The Old Testament? Meh. Why bother? It's soooooooooo contradictory.
