anyone driving I-94 by Gary Indiana , be careful |
|
my son just called me and told me 25-30 cars are on the side of the road, all 4 tires blown out on some cars, others with 2-3 tires completely blown out, due to a HUGE fissure that crosses both lanes and numerous potholes that are really deep..probably due to the frozen road unfreezing so fast and the drenching rain. state troopers are just now arriving on the scene.

3. Frost heaves are terrible things |

and Massachusetts was always helpfully putting up "bump" signs on the side of the road right next to them so that you were trying to figure out what the sign said and missed the damn bump.
I've nearly ended up with sunroofs in several cars because of that.
I've never lost a tire, though. I-94 must be especially nasty.

so he was in the westbound lanes coming back from michigan. I wonder if they will close off the road. it should slow things up quite a bit. on edit,,, they will probably send a work crew to fill the holes to keep the traffic flowing, at least i hope so. going down I 94 sucks anyway as I recall..the roads are never in very good shape thru indiana...hugs

Took me an hour and fourty minutes to get home from Cedar Rapids. Normally 35 minutes. I took the back roads or I'd still be out there.

The roads in the Northern part of the US are all so hazardous..
My son lives in Chicago. Now that it has finally stopped snowing and the temperature has gotten into the double digits, planes have been grounded due to the fog.

It has been a brutal week. Been raining all night and most of the day. Lots of flooding.
