If Al Gore had been president for the last 8 years... |
|
I Finally Watched "An Inconvenient Truth" --- I Tivoed it this week and watched it tonight.
I knew it was bad... Global warming that is. But holy fucking shit... The only good thing I can say is; I will have ocean front property in about 10 years (or less) ---
This movie should be mandatory for anyone who has a TV.
Who are the idiots, like John Coleman (founder of the Weather Channel), who think global warming is a hoax? What a bunch of fucktards.
What if Al Gore had actually been the president for the last 8 years? What kind of positive changes would have been made?
I can think of a few things, No Iraq war... No occupation of that country, no Patriot Act, an effort to clean up the air, water and earth. Yes, the GOP sure has done a good job.
The world is far worse off now. How sad.

Now that would have been worth the price of admission.
I asked here, on the DU, a year or so ago, for people to explain why Gore picked Lieberman as his running mate. What a thread that was... :D
I still do not understand the logic of a Lieberman VP pick.... Anyone?

4. Such a machine I'd love to invent... |
|
To peer into other realities that bifurcated from this one.
Then the day would come where even the complete idiots, who, to this day, claim that anything could possibly have gone worse with Gore in office, would just have to STFU once and for all.
With little doubt I can say that the WTC would still be standing, the surplus would still be growing, the sanctions would still be working, the air would be clearing, and the economy would be sound.
And we can point to exact instances and actions by * that led directly to the disasters we are in right now.

5. Al Gore was elected president of the United States of America... |

and things will not be right in the world until he serves in that capacity. The crimes committed against humanity by the traitors, thugs, and criminals that currently occupy our government must be brought to justice. There is no compromise for tyranny. http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2439769/7534124">An Inconvenient Truth

26. Nothing will change THE FACTS that Al Gore was elected President in 2000 and was |
|
prevented from taking office by bushco* family and associates. The same happened again in 2004 to John Kerry. George W. bush* should have never been allowed to cross the threshhold of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He did not fairly earn that honor.

21. It's too heartbreaking to even think about for long, but of course you are 100% right. |
|
Here's a silver lining, Gore's had time to really focus! I actually was reading the IPCC webpage and reports today. I could understand more than I would have thought. I'm looking for projected sea level rise in the next 50 years.
We're already having salt water intrusion into the aquifers. Carter was so right, and Reagan was so wrong, and that's where we really lost it. But there's always hope.
Aloha.

23. ...9/11 either would have been diminshed in impact or wouldn't have happened at all. |
|
It is quite possible, even probable, that the Bushies either MIHOPped or LIHOPped 9/11.
Gore might have on 9/11, as on 2000, caught the Bushies' Arab Allies BEFORE they had a chance to do their Bushie Op (though I am guessing that the perps of 9/11 had no idea who they were REALLY working for) and knock down the WTCs.
