Cornyn promises filibuster on Franken
Cornyn promises filibuster on Franken

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) threatened Friday to filibuster any attempt to seat Democratic Minnesota Senate candidate Al Franken next week.

The newly minted National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) chairman said he had not whipped votes in the GOP caucus, but added that he could not imagine any members defecting and seating Franken without a certificate of election.

Franken will not have that certificate as long as the election is challenged in the courts — a likely scenario, with Sen. Norm Coleman’s (R-Minn.) legal team already attacking the credibility of the recount process.

“This is a very, very serious matter,” Cornyn said. “I can assure you that there will be no way that people on our side of the aisle will agree to seat any senator without a valid certificate.”

2. Franken shouldn't be seated without a certificate of election
but have the dems suggested that he should be? Or is Cornyn just shit stirring?

Coleman team virtually guarantees lawsuit

Sen. Norm Coleman’s (R-Minn.) attorneys said Friday that there will be a legal challenge to the recount in the senator’s reelection race, and conceded that they are almost certainly the ones that will bring it.

“I think that an election challenge here is inevitable,” said Coleman lawyer Fritz Knaak, adding that there is “no doubt” in his mind.

Knaak then acknowledged that the actions of the state canvassing board will likely leave Democrat Al Franken ahead. Franken currently leads by 49 votes out of nearly 3 million cast.

“If, in fact, some of the errors that we see that haven’t been cured in the numbers and in the ballots continue, as we expect them to, I would be very surprised if we weren’t the ones bringing the action,” Knaak said.

11. Nuclear Option Anyone??
I recall those repubs screaming about re-writing senate rules to abolish the filibuster. Perhaps we should revisit this line on thinking once again.

ronny(drizzlinshit)raygun, boosh, boosh, Iraq, Afghanistan, sub prime mortgages, deregulation of banks, savings and loans, lack of oversight that led to 9/11, halliburton, blackwater,
Katrina failure, oh yea the give way to 'faith based aid $ to hypocrite fundys, tax breaks for millionaires. I do realise that clinton is more or less our fault, and his bombing in Bosnia which was pretty heinous and a blowjob. HOW do the two compare?
I know I must have missed something.
On edit, Election FRAUD , 2000 and 2004.
Threats against citizens like me when we spoke out about that fraud when our ballots were shredded in the parking lot of our polling place...
