1. I read it on his site. As usual he is very convincing and this time he
scares me. I am telling my family that we will continue to live our lives as we want but that we should be prepared. If what he talks about never happens the preparation will not hurt but if it does it will be the difference between survival and failure.

2. I hope he's wrong, but I fear he's right.
There's just too many negatives looming on our horizon to believe that we can escape this financial tsunami. Thanks for posting...I'll be following his blog in the future...at least as long as we have the power and/or internet infrastructure in place.

3. What I'm hoping for is that Obama will pay more attention to this stuff
While the public supposedly voted for "change" this fall, I maintain that they underestimate the changes really at hand. I voted for "change" myself in pulling the lever for Barack Obama. I regard him as a figure of intelligence and sensibility, but I'm far from convinced that he really sees the kind of change we are in for, and I fret about the measures he'll promote to rescue the Status Quo when he moves into the White House a few weeks from now.

7. I'll know he means change
if we don't get bogged down with something other than Medicare for All on the health care issue.

5. Kunstler is an expert on how modern civilization has developed. Do you know
Edited on Mon Jan-05-09 08:41 AM by Texas Explorer
about his weekly podcast discussions? It's located at http://www.kunstlercast.com/ and it's an excellent, EXCELLENT look at modern American civilization featuring Duncan Crary, host/producer, who speaks with Kunstler about the failure of suburbia and the inevitable end of this living arrangement with no future.

You can hear the audio version of JHK's Forecast 2009 there now.

It's a must-visit for me every week and I suggest listening to every episode.
