Chris Matthews might not run against GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania this year because NBC is making the “Hardball” host an offer he may not be able to refuse! Matthews is said to be considering an offer from the Peacock People to remain as host of “Hardball” instead of heading back to Pennsylvania to try to unseat Specter, said the Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve talked to Chris. I think he’s going to be here for a long time. . . . I want him to be here for a long time,” MSNBC President Phil Griffin said the other day. He also stated that there would be “clarity” soon. Matthews reportedly makes about $5 million a year and has hosted “Hardball” since 1997, first on CNBC and then on MSNBC.
