Alcoa's cutting 13,500 jobs... |
|
They make containers, aluminum foil... staples. They aren't one of the companies to be affected as much as others by the current economic downturn. They are releasing 13% of their workforce. What does this mean? That most likely they will be trying to make they remaining 87% keep up with the same volume. Great if you are a stock holder. Sucks if you are on the line.

1. If we stop washing our used aluminum foil, (yes, some do) and |
|
if we stop recycling, they will have no choice but to bring them back.

4. Many here won't care about all of them because some of them aren't "red blooded Merican workers" |

Many are in Europe. Now of course decent human beings know they are equal to Americans. But remember many here only stand with American workers.

feel so bad when I hear of one more person losing their job. Good luck to all of them. We are really in for it 09 is going to be much worse at least the first half of it. That is about as far as my radar goes for right now. It really is going to get worse-no ?

5. Less people are buying less aluminum products. The demand is down. Cars use a lot. Demand is down. |

7. Went to Food Lion to pick up a roll of tin foil, Reynolds, 200 ft., almost $11.00 |
|
very expensive for me but at least Reynolds hasn't thinned down the thickness of their regular foil........YET but I didn't have $11 or even what they wanted for the smaller size.
Had to settle on a store brand, sure it was cheaper and less footage but I could almost see through the damn foil.
sigh....
So sorry to hear more people losing their jobs. We're in such a mess!
