1. Then call me oversensitive.
Because we don't watch him much anymore.

2. So you don't find him funny, fine
I find his joke was directed mostly at Inhofe... but oh well

6. Not just tonight.
Comedy comes from within a person. It comes from the heart. When it does, it is really comedy. He used to be that way, but he is changing.

11. Or perhaps you are changing
I find him as humorous as ever and that last bit of the SPAN with Boxer schooling Inhofe was amusing as hell...

Even to Gore...

5. Mad- you're oversensitive.
He took a couple of very light shots at Al. Come on.

This is important. If Gore and his supporters- such as me- can't take something as softball as what Jon said, he shouldn't be in the limelight.

8. You know what? I don't think Al cares any longer
serious.

He is doing a wondeful job and realizes there is a war on... and also why.

I also realize why... so this is no surprise.

What is surprising is the thin skin from people who like him. (in some cases mind you)

9. Can't take that "don't care" attitude, either.
He has to laugh. WE have to laugh, and help him laugh.

Folks need to cut it out with the 24-hour ultra-serious stuff. A little levity is mandatory with something as important as Gore is doing.

10. Oh absolutely
but when it comes to these jokes in the late night... I truly don't think they care any longer... most politicians don't.

They are the fodder of the comedians and have to have a thicker skin than the fans are exhibiting.

Oh I am sure in the beginning it truly bugged them... but now... he has other stuff to worry about, apart of Jon Stewart making an obvious or perceived dig at him

14. madfloridian, you HAVE to like TDS. You just gotta.
I usually love everything about your posts, and now you say you don't think Jon is funny.

I'm just kidding. :-) (but I'm not kidding about the posts.)

16. I like Colbert. Colbert has found himself deep down.
Colbert knows what he stands for.

But I think Jon Stewart is watering stuff down to appeal to everyone. Then it loses its edge. We turned it on the other night to watch someone we heard was on. We did see a couple of funny spots.

17. You may have something there.
Is Jon Stewart going Hollywood? :-)

I'll keep an eye out.

Colbert on the other hand, has indeed been searing in his comedy of late.

3. You are right Nad...it's the same thing Colbert does, joining them in
their criticism in a mocking way. It takes THEM down a peg.

4. I'll admit it, took me a little while to get Colberg
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 01:19 AM by nadinbrzezinski
but these two are pure gold.

And his comment on Al was purely the condescending tone Al used at the end... it was funny, in a special way. Oh and not precisely at Al, even if Al was the vehicle to the joke...

Inhofe here you go, egg on that damn face

12. I thought it was pretty good.
I know I'm not supposed to think this, but I thought the extended restaurant references were about the funniest thing in the whole rif.

13. Q: How Many Liberals Does It Take to Change a Lightbulb?
A: THAT'S NOT FUNNY!

I don't know which was funnier - Jon Stewart or those on fainting couches clutching smelling salts because he dared make a joke about a living, breathing politician saint.

15. Q: How Many Liberals Does It Take to Change a Lightbulb?
A: I don't know, but it better be done only every seven years with compact fluorescents.
