Bush Haters?: Thoughts on the Last Press Conference
First, who are these mythical people who supposedly hate President George Bush just because he is George Bush. Throughtout the presidency certain reporters have claimed that George Bush is hated simply because he George Bush. On at least one other occasion I have stated that it seems that if there are any people on the left who hate George Bush just because of who he is they are very few. No doubt there has been anger from the left pointed in Bush's direction. However, that anger was not based on the fact that George Bush is George Bush, due to his policies. Anytime Bush was criticized by the left it was based on a policy disagreement and not any dislike of Bush himself.

I remember the first years of the Bush Administration when Democrats seemed to try hard not to make their argument against Bush about Bush himself. When Bush first came into office Democrats tried hard to make argument about policy. However, it seems that anytime anyone tried to criticize a Bush policy some Republians claimed Bush himself was being criticized. However, as far as I remember Democrats tried hard not to go after Bush on a personal level.

On another note Bush finally admitted making a few mistakes. In terms of the "Mission Accomplished" banner it only took about seven years and a few other things to make him realize he had in fact made a mistake.

2. I never really hated anyone in my life...
Until Bush started screwing the world over. Then I started hating him, and I damn him for breaking a perfect record.

There is nothing to like about Bush. History will judge him, and it will be up to the world to decide which version of history should be embraced, and which should be eschewed. There will be two versions: The Official Bush Version, and The World's Version. Those who lick his boots can bloody well go straight to hell right along with him.

3. Not hate anymore. He made us feel as if 9/11 happened yesterday.
He was truly one of the greatest misleaders since Satan.

5. The Villagers are interested in labels, not reasons
It's so much easier to dismiss inconvenient facts when you can just label someone a "Bush-hater." The arguments can be ignored, the reasons behind that hate can just be glossed over, and all's right in The Village, which still likes to think of George W. Bush as Our Popular Wartime President Who Has Kept Us Safe Since September 11. Facts contrary to that pleasing narrative are not allowed into the discussion, because there is still too much fresh evidence of the complicity of the popular media in building up that narrative.

Years from now, when it's safe, the brave guardians of our public discourse will allow as how, yes, President Bush was not universally loved, and that there might be some real, concrete reasons for that. But not for a while yet.

6. I've been called a Bush-basher for merely telling the truth about Bush
If the truth bashes Bush then the truth is Bush's problem, not me.

I don't bash Bush. Bush bashes himself through his very existence.

10. I do oreilly-sucks.com

And a lot of the e-mail I get from O'Reilly lovers ask me why I hate O'Reilly, and call me a hater, O'Reilly himself calls people who disagree with him, Bush, or any Republicans, haters. It's a Republican thing, if a Democrat disagrees with anything a Republican says or does you are a hate filled hater, and you hate them just because they are Republican.

But if a Republican disagrees with anything a Democrat says or does you are a great American who just has an honest disagreement with them. It's total hypocrisy, a double standard, and just crazy right-wing propaganda. They even deny they have any hate, when all the hate groups in America are full of right-wingers.

13. I made that prediction in September 2000 ... before the election.
It was a certainty for me that we'd be in a full-blown shooting war in the Middle East before the close of 2001 if Smirk and Sneer got elected. I KNEW it.

8. What I learned from this last presser:
Nothing bad that happened was his fault

He is the reason we have not been attacked again

Many people want to kill us, but Africa loves us

Clinton ruined the economy and the recession was inherited

The administration did a good job responding to Katrina

He doesn't give a damn what anyone else thinks

:puke:

9. I don't hate him, I feel sorry for him...he is ill...
mentally ill and he needs some help. His mood swings in the presser today just reinforced that in my beautiful mind.

18. I'm going to have to agree with you.
This is how I feel about him.

My feeling toward him is one of pity, not hate.

Imagine being a 40-year-old man who has never been able to do anything without being completely dependent on your father for every fucking thing: getting a job, getting out of trouble, going to school.

Now, imagine trying to convince yourself that you can pretend none of that happened because you have successfully exchanged one form of addiction (alcohol, coke, fraternity pranks) for another (religion) and, that no one would notice.

Imagine then, that very same person believes he can be leader of the free world.

With all that delusion going on his life--at his age--I can only feel pity for someone so genuinely and irretrievably fucked-up.

Of course, I blame his parents for not getting him help sooner.

None of this excuses his crimes, however.

12. For most of my life, I never understood how people could so strongly detest a President.
I never felt such antipathy. Even Reagan didn't raise my bile, even with Iran/Contra. Poppy Bush was worse -- I strongly disapproved (but didn't detest) of his divisive antipathy for Americans with whom he disagreed.

Then along came Shrub ... with the sneering Darth Cheney. Appalling. As close to pure EVIL as I'd ever imagined.
