bush says his low point was being called racist because of Katrina response
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/14/lkl.bush/index.html

King: How do you feel personally when you see the ratings and the polls that have you at 25, 30 percent?

George Bush: I don't give a darn. I feel the same way as when they had me at 90-plus.

King: Upon reflection, two more things: was Katrina the lowest point beyond foreign entanglements and 9/11.

George Bush: I think being called a racist because of Katrina was a low point. I can remember people saying George Bush is a racist because of the response, when, in fact, the truth of the matter is the response was pretty darn quick, if you think about the fact that the Coast Guard and a lot of brave kids were pulling 30,000 people off of roofs as soon as the storm passed, as soon as they found people on those roofs.

1. Yeah, he can say the response
was quick but that doesn't make it reality.

3. Detroit, not New Orleans, is and has remained the poorest city in the country.
I call the entire country racist for rebuilding their vacation spot while letting the largest African-American city in the nation implode. :hi:

4. He's taking the Revisionism Tour on Larry King?
I think this asswipe has begun to wake up to the fact that practically everybody in the world regards him as a joke. and he's becoming more and more desperate in his defensiveness of his pathetic record and his denials of incompetence and corruption. Nobody is buying this shit anymore and he's getting a little screechy.

Maybe we'll get to see the long awaited public meltdown after all.

5. "...as soon as the storm passed..." He keeps repeating this line. It'll eat him alive.

He knows that once again, he reacted after the fact, he did nothing in terms of being pro-active, in showing concern, in preparing, in moving people out of harms way, in making sure they were cared for in the storm's wake. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

The fact that real human beings with actual compassion, actual skills, actual leadership abilities, took charge in Bush's absence while he was busy playing guitar and eating serving birthday cake to John McCain, is lost on the man. Flying over days after the danger has passed is NOT leadership, Mr. Bush. No one cared if you landed on a rooftop or a military base. Didn't matter...you hunkered down and partied it up while thousands died and tens of thousands suffered, then went in for a lame-ass photo-op "...as soon as the storm passed." Give or take a few days.

Asshole. People like Bush are the reason so many believe in the concept of a "hell," I think. You've got to have faith that there is some way this man will ultimately pay for all the destruction and mayhem and suffering he's created on his continued career path of total failure. I can't see Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi ever actually standing up for what is right.

Maybe Anderson Cooper should have a sit down with Bush and interview him about Katrina.

Sure the Coast Guard did a good job of rescuing people. They do that all the time and don't need FEMA or the President to give them the go-ahead. What I want is for someone to ask him why the response to the citizens in the Superdome was not forthcoming for so many days. Not even a helicopter to lower water or portable toilets or food or clean clothes. Why were people forced to 'loot' food. Why were they left to die of thirst?

If it weren't for Al Gore there would have been many who died in the hospitals where he personally went with chartered airplanes to help evacuate the sick. If he could land planes and organize evacuations then what held FEMA up?

Bush can't take credit for what the Coast Guard does.
