Leahy, you must know that they are carefully wiping emails right now. |
|
..from computer hard drives and elsewhere, and destroying damning evidence as fast as they can (in fact you have already seen much was left out of the dump that was given). They are NOT AT ALL fearful of the implications of destroying evidence because their crimes are so monumental, they have no choice. I hope you are diligent in protecting all the evidence. Trusting them to retain it just won't do. IMO, this is also why the subpoenas should be issued right now!

1. Historically, such attempts at cover-up ALWAYS fail . . . |
|
You create evidence by destroying it; someone always talks; and in today's world every email has been replicated 10,000 times before the third addressee gets to read it.
Let 'em try. It'll just be more damning.

6. Cheney and Fielding know damn well how computer archives caught Ollie North and |
|
his merry band during the Iran-Countra affair. They'll not make that mistake again.
I just hope that forensic computing has a match for every trick the WH implements.

I know where I'd lay my money, as long as legal access isn't completely denied because of "national security."

Can you spell Rosemary Woods? And yes, forensic examiners can tell when hard drives have had info wiped off of them.

Nixon never resigned in disgrace, and a dozen of his henchmen never went to jail. Selective memory you have there.
And Leahy has been fighting corruption in the Senate for 32 years. He knows how to do it.

Nixon should have gone to prison. Reagan should have gone to prison. Negroponte should have gone to prison. There have been other administration-shattering scandals that slowed the fascists before, but we've never really stopped them because they have successfully erased, burned and buried the evidence that leads to the top people. And what happens to the lesser tools who do get jail time? The get out with minimum sentences, get their sentences shortened, then get their own talk shows.
Yes, computer forensics can tell if a hard drive has been tampered with - but can we be sure it can recover the erased/wiped files. If worst comes to worst, the hard-drive can be re-formatted, and there is no recovery from that. Meanwhile the shredders are running full time.
I'm sure that Leahy is doing all he can (at least I hope so) but it is frustrating to be certain that Cheney and * will never see the inside of a prison. Gonzo may go down, if conspiracy can be proved, but he's just a minor player. Most the crimes of this administration will never see the light of day in a courtroom, any more than the crimes of Nixon or Reagan did. And because of that, their successors will be back to plague us in another 4-12 years, and there will be a clear line of descent from Nixon and Donald Segretti to them, whoever they may be.

3. From what I've heard, the Dems already have things the WH doesn't know they have. |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 09:47 AM by AndyA
So, it's too late to destroy evidence. The Dems already have it, and will use it against the WH.

10. Yeah, remember all the jail time Katherine Harris got. |
|
She wiped all the records clean in the Secretary of States computers after the 2000 election.
I think she got sentenced to something like 4 years. In Congress.

9. Has the thought ever struck you |
|
that perhaps Senator Leahy who served as a prosecutor for 8 years and has been in the Senate for over 30- fighting like hell for liberal causes and against corruption- knows a bit more about how to handle this case than you. But if you're so concerned why not email him directly with your brilliant suggestions?

that this is a discussion board, and thousands of us have millions of questions in our heads that we need to get out or go nuts, and this is the place we've chosen to do it? But if you're so concerned, why not email Skinner directly and see if every post posted can come through you first, to see if it meets your approval?

at your blatant threat.
Look, I'm glad my post got deleted. I lost my temper, and for that I apologize, but threatening someone on DU- or anywhere else for that matter- is so not cool. It's one of the few things that really creeps me out. Too bad you did it.

27. accept my apology too? |

I should have deleted mine too... we all get caught at "just the wrong time" sometimes, and lash out blindly and without thinking about what we say. We don't think about everyone else reading here, or where ever it happens, or think about a human being on the other end. We're mostly anonymous faces on a discussion board, just words on a screen, and sometimes we drop to the lowest common demoninator. I reacted this way, and for that I apologize to you.
We all lose our heads at times. Kinda like the possum that barely makes it across the tracks as the train is coming, but it catches the tip of his tail. First reaction, he turns to bite what just harmed him.... and gets his head cut off too. Reactionary Instincts, fight or flight... whatever you choose to call it.
Just because we disagree on one little thing, doesn't mean that we will disagree on everything. Live and let live there... if we all thought alike, it would be pretty boring, wouldn't it? Now let's go fight the evil in our Government that is out to destroy our Country and our way of life.
PEACE!
Ghost

Much of the evidence WILL disappear (you have to know that, unless you trust them (do you trust them?)... we could end up with enough evidence to convict but wouldn't it be far more beneficial to have overwhelming evidence?... that's all.

JESUS! I'm just saying, WE SHOULD NOT TRUST THEM! Now more than ever! And I am catching flak for that? Of course I don't know more than Leahy. And I really do bow to him. But to those of you giving me a hard time, if you think they aren't working frantically to save their asses you have your heads buried deep! Mark these words, 'much evidence will be destroyed!'
