Bush: "The most important job I have had is to protect the American people from another attack"
Bush: President's priority is preventing attack

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/14/bush.lkl.interview/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The commander in chief's priority is preventing another terrorist attack in the United States, President Bush told CNN's "Larry King Live" Tuesday.

"The most important job I have had -- and the most important job the next president is going to have -- is to protect the American people from another attack," Bush said.

Accompanied by first lady Laura Bush and engaging in a wide-ranging conversation with King, Bush also said that his administration has been involved in stopping specific threats against the United States since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

"We've learned a lot of information about al Qaeda that we didn't know before," Bush said of intelligence activities during his tenure as president. "We've stopped some specific threats -- we're decimating leadership."

He did not offer specifics, but he did offer a self-assessment of his leadership in national security post-9/11.

"I told the American people I wouldn't tire and I wouldn't falter, and I haven't," the outgoing president said.

10. Your most important job, your most sacred obligation, was to preserve, protect, and defend
the Constitution of the United States for which you get an F- and you did not do such a good job defending us against the one major attack mounted against us during your reign: in fact, the facts seem to point to your assiduously disregarding warnings of such an impending attact that poured in from around the world. Moreover, your job was also to protect our economy, our jobs, our environment, our standard of living, our currency, our public health, all of which I will generously give you a provisionable D----. :P

3. A failed economy is a far more dangerous thing than all terrorists put together
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 11:55 AM by Rabrrrrrr
One terrorist attack might plausibly kill a few thousand people again, and cause some economic damage.

But this economic meltdown, perpetrated by ludicrously greedy and immoral capitalist terrorists, is ruining the lives of tens of millions.

Tell me, Mr. "Don't Forget Poland", which is worse?

Your name is FAIL, sir.

6. Very true
Many, MANY more Americans had their lives cut short due to lack of health care and lack of employment.

8. His job was to run the executive branch of the government
from all accounts he did a terrible, terrible job. Bradley J. Schlozman types are every where in this administration. Katrina happened because he favored party loyalty over being able to do your damn job. I have no doubts we are just beginning to hear the horror stories about how poorly run each department is right now as the new people take over and try to rebuild them. The good thing about so many ex-Clinton's in this cabinet is I have no doubt they will love to tell the press all the dirt they find as pay back for Bushes less than classy made up BS during the transition in 2001.
