Kevin Bacon is One Degree of Separation from the Poorhouse
Poor guy has been in a movie with almost everybody, and he can't retire yet. Here's to better luck in 2009! :toast:

Kevin Bacon needs a job.

Last month New York Magazine revealed Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick were two of Bernie Madoff's victims, and may have lost everything they had but their real estate and checking accounts.

Bacon spoke to Life & Style Magazine about it at a Television Critics Association event:

"We'll march on. We have to. There¹s nothing you can do about it. You can't change what happened. Things could be worse. You remember that, and you go on with your life.

But Kevin was shocked by the news of Madoff's scam. "I didn¹t see it coming," he said.

Asked by Life & Style what he's currently working on, Kevin replied: "I don't have anything lined up right now, but I need to work, for obvious reasons."

Bacon is currently appearing in "Frost/Nixon" while his wife stars on TNT's "The Closer."

1. In one paycheck, he'll make several years' worth of my salary.
So, I'm not worried for him.

10. If it's a big project, yeah
A lot of actors (including Bacon) will also work for cheap or free in return for a share of the profits if they think something is suitably worthy. Thing is, Actor's names do more to sell a film (both to investors and the public) than anything else. Most people only care about two things: what's it about (in one line, please) and who's in it.

'A list' means an actor is famous enough to open a picture successfully with their name alone - anything they appear in is pretty much guaranteed to do a certain amount of business. 'B list' means they're still quite famous, but you probably need to pair them up with someone else if you want to have a hit. Which is why they get paid the big bucks.

The same is somewhat true for directors, but only about 10% of people go to see films based on who directed. As for producers, almost nobody cares outside the industry. Nobody says 'Hey, let's go see a film produced by Scott Rudin' even though he's one of the most successful producers in Hollywood.

2. Oh no. Whoa, I can't believe their broker/accountant would ever advise them
to give nearly 100% of their money to any one investor or any single fund. Tragic. And he's not the only one.

3. Meh. Sedwick probably makes more per episode than most Americans make in a year.
Sucks that they got ripped off by Madoff but they won't starve. They seem to have a healthy attitude about the situation.

5. They will survive. They have real estate and

will find more work. Alot of money is made in Hollywood, regardless of performance, the same with Wall Street executives. :eyes: His wife is working, so they will still live a wealthy life.

With that said, he and his wife are stupid. To put all of your money with one person (especially when there is no transparency) is just plain stupid. What else can be said.
