1. I guess the liquidators won in the bidding war over Circuit City's remains. |
There were other firms that were bidding to buy the firm and keep it running, but I guess they lost out.

2. Sorry for the hourly paid employees |
But I'm sure the top brass have their offshore accounts to get them by.

4. Yeah, there was desperate last ditch hope for a big holiday season |
It just wasn't good enough to sweeten the pot for legit buyers over liquidators.

6. Yeah, Home Depot and Circuit City's laying-off long-term employees really sucked |
Nothing like blemishing your public reputation and removing the only knowledgeable people from stores to hire part-time minimum wage people with nothing invested in helping the consumers or the company.

7. I wonder what that will do to those of us with extended warranty coverage. |
We bought some electronic equipment from them last summer and paid extra for a 2 year replacement warranty. The warranty, as we recently found out, is crap in the extreme. If you have a problem with the item they will give you an IN STORE credit for the amount of the purchase and it voids the rest of the two year warranty. They will let you buy ANOTHER warranty on what you purchase with the in store credit, but you have to purchase it. It's an obscene scam in my mind. We have been dealing directly with the manufacturer and they have been wonderful, but they only have a one year warranty so after that I'd have to deal with Circuit City.
Hard lesson to learn I guess.

NOT buying an extended warranty. Yes, you learned a hard lesson, thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

9. From the sounds of it, I would expect an almost "Black Friday" among consumers |
When the initial store-wide markdowns are announced. TVs, game systems, home theater, etc all marked down is going to make for an interesting end to the company.
