Did you know Limbaugh and Hannity are taxpayer supported?
Where do these yokels get their money?

Selling advertising time. Limbaugh is one of the most expensive shows to advertise on because his audience--like his ass--is large and odorous...but mostly large.

What is one of the biggest advertising revenue streams for these hate-mongers? Public Service Announcements.

I'm doing an assignment for my poli-sci class where we survey rightist media sources and dissect their propaganda techniques. I was amazed to hear all of these PSA's and these ads come from government organizations.

WTF?

(On the plus side I mentioned this to my prof and he gave me kudos for noticing.)

1. So who do we complain to to get the public funding stopped?
Ask your prof how we do that, please?

2. Congress holds the checkbook.
And the FCC sets practice and standards rules. Stations actually have dedicate certain amounts of advertising time to running PSA's to keep their licenses compliant.

3. Rushbo Doesn't Get A Dime Nor The Stations From PSAs
They're the radio equivelent of a "this billboard for sale"...meaning the time wasn't sold, this is being used to fill time. If anything, I'd investigate the perilous state of radio these days...on the verge of total financial implosion. For years, corporate radio rode the stock market bubble and when it burst, so did they. Many of the large corporates stocks have plunged into worthless paper and the large debts incurred through their massive consolidations are coming home to roost.

The deal is radio is losing revenues on the average of 20% per year...and they've been doing this for the past 8 years (booshie's been no charm to radio). Stations take Rushbo cause he's cheaper than paying a local talent...all the station does is hooks up to the satellite and goes home.

If you want to do some serious investigating...look into the financial mess that's going on in radio, it's real ugly right now. Hate radio was one of the few remaining formats that was generating money for dying AM stations, and with the collapse of the economy, radio finds itself at the bottom of the advertising food chain...behind network and local TV, cable and now the internet. It's a textbook example of what happens when "deregulation" turns into a ponzi scheme...

Cheers...

4. PSAs are run for free.
When you hear a lot of them, that means the station couldn't sell all their time. Its actually a good sign. It means they are losing money.

7. The secretary of Defense
is in charge of DOD. DOD is in charge of Armed Forces Radio and The Secretary of Defense answers directly to the President. Rush must go now!
