McCaskill wonders what's wrong with mascara, Joe Lieberman "speechless"

The highlight of Janet Napolitano’s homeland security secretary confirmation hearing was Sen. Claire McCaskill, who apparently has been tied up at the airport one too many times by clueless airport security officials.

For the women of America, she wondered, “What is it about my mascara that’s so threatening?”

And after having traveled with a bum knee that required security checks, she said she’s not anxious for “extra love pats” to come back.

The mention of “love pats” threw committee chairman Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), who told McCaskill, “You left me speechless there.”

Sen. John Tester (D-Mont.) had more to add: “I don’t think you’re the first guy Claire has left speechless.”

1. Better than calling them a gropping session by a little too frisky of security.

Believe me, I know that gropping my breasts from behind me do not constitute their friskiness. As of late, my hubby has gone with me on flights and I haven't been gropped. But when my grandmother was dying I made a few alone trips, everytime, the creepy feelers had to find something to wand and frisk me over. Its not like these security personel are actual cops, just assholes.

2. Sen. McCaskill, you GO, girl

When the airlines start x-raying the cargo hold (like they should have been all along,) I'll actually believe that the intrusive and pointless TSA "friskings" are necessary.

I'm only sorry that Senator McCaskill didn't mention the fact that, according to Sea-Tac Airport and the Seattle Times, TSA employees were helping themselves to "confiscated" items such as perfumes, etcetera.

In the meantime, I'll bet one of the cosmetic companies jumps on her comments: "Lashes so long, they're CRIMINAL!"
