Just a general question that has nothing to do with the inaugurations festivities...
If Washington DC were to be granted Statehood, how many representatives in the House would they get?

And they'd have to change the law to increase the size from 435 to 436.

2. One. With Utah getting the other to offset
the Democratic seat.

3. That doesn't make a lot of sense. Where does Utah fit it?
They'd get 2 Senators & one Congressman, wouldn't they?

5. From what I understand
it is one seat in the House. A senate seat has not been addressed in Utah. It is a trade-off that has been in the works for over 4 years that I am aware of.

4. And that is something I do not understand at all.
Why should fucking Utah get an extra seat? Why not California or Maine? This would make Utah permanently over-represented. Why?

6. I don't agree with it,
but Sen Hatch just co-sponsored legislation based on the 2000 census count.

7. I think its one Rep for every 600,000 or so nowdays
I don't know what the permanent population of DC is, its pretty small. Let's say a million and a half. That would give them at least 1 and probably 2 would be my guess.

9. It will be @1 / 750,000 in 2010
DC will have @600,000. Wyoming @500,000. Gov. Palin's precious 'biggest state in the union' will have @680,000.
Utah if it got an extra rep would have about 1/600,000. While my dear Iowa will lose one in 2010 and have about 1/750,000.
