Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 04:58 PM by Democrat 4 Ever
Where has this been reported? Tweety is actually having his panel discuss the sympathy vote for Edwards and why he wants to be president. Have there been additional reports today that I somehow missed? Tweety said it was much more serious than first reported but didn't say where he got his info. I'm hoping he got it where he usually gets his "facts" - pulled out of his ass.

To give Tweets a very rare kudos - he actually said he thought John and Elizabeth were continuing the run because they thought they could help America. Of course, he then takes the opportunity to make a snarky remark about Hillary and why she has naked ambition to be president.

Lordy, I truly dislike Tweety.

3. Tweety notwithstanding, I get the impression from all of what I'm seeing today
is that the prognosis is awfully and unfortunately bleak.

19. Once it's hits the bone it's considered "uncurable."
But, I think she is such a positive person and a fighter, that I personally hold out hope.

21. I guess I have to repeat it again...BREAST CANCER IS ALWAYS INCURABLE
whether it metastasizes to the bone or not.

That doesn't mean you will die of it, it just means that a recurrence is always possible...even if the odds are smaller in some cases than others.

Honestly, I wish they'd stop saying "It is NOW incurable." It was "incurable" the day she was diagnosed in 2004. That's the way breast cancer IS. It's not one of those "if you're free of it for five years, you're cured" cancers.

23. That's not what I'm reading on medscape?
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/406323

Breast Cancer: Curable if Detected Early

from Drugs & Therapy Perspectives

Introduction

Although breast cancer is a serious and feared disease, early detection through screening mammography and breast examination can reduce breast cancer mortality by approximately 30%. For patients with familial cancer syndromes and certain high-risk population groups such as Ashkenazi Jews, genetic screening is appropriate.

Treatment for breast cancer is mainly determined by the tumour stage, and options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy.

More at link above. I'm not an oncologist, and haven't spent much time on research, so I am left with what I've read in the media. Reports are that once the cancer is in the bone it is "un/incurable."

24. well, I don't quite agree...
Once having it, one is predisposed to having a recurrance, that's true.

My mother had a radical mastectomy in 1986. She had a lumpectomy on the other side in 1999. She gets herself checked regularly. I consider her cured of both episodes but this disease runs in my family, and she/I will always have to be vigilant. But, Mom is quite healthy and today, cancer-free.

14. I thought HER physician also said that there was a "lesion" ...
... noted in one of her lungs (?) ... she was not saying that the lung lesion was CA ... but she was not saying it was not (?)

I certainly hope I am confusing things.

4. My newspaper claims that her cancer is stage 4
so I suppose he could just be sensationalizing what that means. It isn't curable, but it is treatable.

11. I don't know what that means. Please don't anyone take this wrong, but
any illness is "treatable". For how long is what matters. I'm being pessimistic hoping to be wrong, rather than the other way 'round.

15. Well, there are several stages with cancer and iirc, stage 4 is the last one.
At this point, there is no way she will recover from the cancer. She may live a long life with treatments, but she will die.

Of course, we'll all die at some point. She may go on for years and years though, if they can keep it from spreading further.

they heard Elizabeth's diagnosis being discussed on The Ticket sports radio in DFW. Credible?

I am so hoping that this is not true.

13. Her cancer has become a chronic condition.
There is no way for us to know how long she (or any of us) has. The extent of the metastatic involvement may be limited enough that she'll have years to go.

22. "She has 6 months" is bullshit.
Reputable doctors don't try to tell people they only have this many months or this many years. They know damn well that there are many variables in how any patient responds to treatment. Especially with breast cancer.

16. and did you hear the VERY last thing he said (repeating it, finally, to shut
off Craig Crawford, who wasn't buying it)?

something like: whenever the murder rate in big cities goes up, so do Rudy's poll numbers. He prefaced that with some more of his patented mancrush ass smooching, 'quien es mas macho? Giuliani es mas macho!' blabbering. so disgusting

respond well to treatment. Lets hope she's one of them.
